The institution, only of its type in Cuba, treasures representative values of the 19th and 20th centuries, period of economic boom of the city, also known as Villa Blanca de los Cangrejos (White Villa of the Crabs).

Decorative vases, glasses, cup sets, kitchen utensils, lamps, interior decorations and furnishings, make up the Museum's exhibition, reopened last October, on the activities for the day of Cuban Culture.

María Chacón, director of the center, told the ACN that most of the collections are imported from France, Germany and England and one of the main styles is Art Nouveau, characterized by the presence of abundant lines and the allusion to nature.

She said that the museum is a reference to bring new generations to the customs of the city, where there are also natural and heritage values, as another of the options of Gibara, integrated since May of the current year to the Cuban tourist destination.

Founded on January 16, 1817, Gibara comes from the aboriginal word Jibá and has a rich history and culture according to the lineage of its foundation and a beautiful and lush landscape with beautiful architectural sites and a perfect sketch of their houses, streets and parks. / ACN
