Venezuela and the NAM: The Blockade is a Violation of Cuba’s Development

The representative of the Government of Venezuela, on behalf of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries, referred to how in the last 27 years the General Assembly has supported Cuba in the lifting of the economic and financial blockade implemented by the United States government.
They also reiterated the firm rejection of the application of these measures against Cuba, because it is an extraterritorial policy that affects the economic development of the largest of the Antilles. In this regard, he calls the United States government to withdraw it.
"The blockade constitutes a violation of Cuba's development, depriving it of interaction on the international level. Direct and indirect damage affects all sectors of the economy; Cuba has been denied access to international markets and technology transfer, "said the diplomat.
He also reaffirmed that the prolongation of the blockade is totally absurd. "The economic damage produced amounts to more than 900 billion dollars, plus additional losses of 4 billion dollars."
He referred to how 191 member states of the organization voted in favor of the resolution last year and that this constitutes an example of the unanimity of the countries to reject the blockade. / Cubadebate
