Cuba and Russia have started on Wednesday talks about possible business and collaboration projects in the geology and mining fields, as part of their 16th Intergovernmental Commission, which meets in Havana.

The talks are being held at the Convention Centre of the state-run Union Cuba-Petroleum (Cupet), which is responsible for guaranteeing the supply of fuel and lubricants.

The geology and mining working group began its work under the leadership of the deputy head of the Federal Agency for Mineral Use of the Russian Federation, Sergey Aksenov, and the general director of Mining of the Cuban Ministry of Energy and Mines, Juan Ruiz Quintana.

Representatives of institutions and companies from both countries will participate in the exchanges, which will continue until next Saturday at the Cupet Convention Center, near the Ñico Lopez refinery in Havana.

The 16th Intergovernmental Commission will follow up joint projects in the commercial, economic, scientific and technical spheres, in which several sectors and institutions of both nations are involved.

The top level segment will be headed by Cuban Vice President Ricardo Cabrisas and Russian Vice Premier Yury Borisov, the government announced recently.
