The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, today thanked the government and people of Mexico, and especially President Claudia Sheinbaum, for sending humanitarian aid to the island.

Through his official account on the social network X, the Cuban president expressed: “#ThankYouMexico. Thank you, dear @Claudiashein. The humanitarian aid from our Mexican brothers and sisters is valuable not only as material cargo. It carries with it the solidarity, friendship, and exemplary history of sovereignty and respect for the rights of others that distinguish #Mexico.”

The Cuban head of state’s message constitutes recognition of the solidarity shown by Mexico, which in recent days sent more than 800 tons of food and supplies to Cuba, in a context marked by the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States and unilateral measures to prevent fuel from reaching the island.

The aid, transported on two Mexican Navy ships, included basic products such as milk, rice, beans, tuna, and hygiene items, and has been widely recognized by the Cuban people and authorities as a genuine demonstration of brotherhood between the two nations. (Source: ACN)
