Cuba denounces at ALBA imperial attempts against regional sovereignty

Speaking at the 13th Extraordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) on Wednesday, Diaz-Canel called on the mechanism and all nations of the world to “condemn the irrational attack by the administration of US President Donald Trump.”

The president affirmed that the threat of aggression and violation of the sovereignty of Latin American and Caribbean countries by the US government is unacceptable and disrupts peace and cooperation in the region.

The head of State said, “We denounce with equal firmness the encouragement and financing of terrorist plans against Venezuela, as well as the false accusations launched by the United States government against President Nicolas Maduro.”

Diaz-Canel underscored that the region is experiencing times of enormous challenges and exceptional risks, and affirmed that there is no alternative “but to confront the empire that seeks to subordinate us to its interests. And we must do so firmly united in convictions and action.”

The Cuban president called on to defend peace and peaceful coexistence among member states as an inalienable right and from realistic positions.

The incumbent expressed pride in the role of ALBA-TCP, which remains at the forefront in denouncing the continued imperialist threats and projects itself as a firm voice against US plans. (Source : PL)
