It has become a tradition that in December the members of the Hemingway Look Alike Society from Florida recall in Cuba passages and moments of the life and work of the US writer and Nobel Prize for Literature, who considered Cuba as his second homeland.

According to the institution's Web site, this weekend they visited the Ambos Mundos Hotel, where the famous novelist stayed in room 511 from 1932 to 1939, the El Floridita bar-restaurant, where he enjoyed his Daiquiri cocktail, sites in Cojimar and the La Vigia Museum(eastern Havana), where he lived for more than 20 years.

In the coastal town of East Havana, the 20 bearded men, very similar to the author of The Old Man and the Sea, were spontaneously and warmly welcomed by locals and tourists alike, dressed in the safari uniform he used to wear and carrying the medal with the year in which each one won the championship to choose the double most similar to him.

Accompanied by Mabel Blanco and Wilver Orlando Aguilera, promoters of the local development project Mural painting in honor of Ernest Hemingway, the visitors toured the historic center of Cojimar.

The project includes a tourist and cultural corridor that would cover the historic center, consisting of the exhibition of the world's largest open-air mural painting with pictures of the novelist.

It would also include the bar-restaurant Las Terrazas, the new restaurant La ruta de Hemingway(Hemingway's route) and the fishing base that bears his name, located at the mouth of the Cojimar River. (ACN)
