Cuban Seminar on Journalism and Tourism to Focus on Heritage

The 13th International Seminar on Journalism and Tourism that will take place in this capital at the end of June will address heritage, culture and the development of the travel industry among its main themes.
 
Scheduled from June 26 to 29 in halls of the José Martí International Institute of Journalism in this capital, it has a marked interest of many Latin American journalists, as it was recognized by the president of the organizing committee, Hilda Prieto.
 
Prieto, Cuban television journalist and head of the tourist press group of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), confirmed to Prensa Latina that another of the topics that will be on the table is the 500th birthday of Havana (November 16, 2019).
 
She announced that 40 journalists specialized in tourism from Panama, Argentina, Colombia, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Uruguay, Peru, Mexico, and the United States, together with the hosts, confirmed their attendance.
 
The Impact of the measures of the current government of the United States on tourism, intelligent tourist destinations: myth or reality, and Meliá-Cuba Group: a history, a destination, are among the topics of the talks.
 
The participants will also discuss Tourism in the Caribbean, current trends, Investment and tourism development strategies in Cuba, Heritage management and tourism development, as well as an international panel with delegates from Colombia, Uruguay, and Cuba.
 
The collateral program of the Seminar includes a tour of the historic center of Old Havana, meetings at hotels in this capital and a visit to the Marina Hemingway, western of Havana.
 
The broad list of the program also includes presentations by hotel groups such as the Spanish Meliá and Iberostar and the local Cubanacán.
 
The president of the organizing committee commented that the seminar is an important space for the updating of knowledge of the sector, exchange of experiences, and rapprochement among the attendees. / PL
