Cuba is one of the 50 countries that have ratified the most international legal instruments on human rights, said jurist Desiree Llaguno.

In exclusive declarations to Prensa Latina, Llaguno explained that the island is ratifying 44 of the 61 agreements of the Human Rights Council, so it stands out among the nations that have the most obligations in this issue compared to the international community.

If we value it from the point of view of developing countries, then we could say that Cuba is on the list of the first states with the most human rights obligations, said the expert.

When talking about how international agreements are inserted in the legal system of the island, Llaguno commented that this procedure is made from the adaptation of those obligations to the national reality.

Our legislation is adapted and incorporates those foreign legal obligations in the matter of human rights with which this nation has consented to be bound, added the also member of the International Law Society of the National Union of Jurists of Cuba. / Prensa Latina
