Cuba expressed its gratitude for the solidarity of the five continents in a media marathon against the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade, an initiative of Europe for Cuba channel to denounce and condemn that policy.
"I appreciate the love for Cuba from organizations and media from all continents that for 24 hours kept up the media marathon against the blockade. We send you an embrace from the island. Rest assured that the Revolution will continue to fight," President Miguel Díaz-Canel wrote on Twitter.
In the same social media network, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero joined the recognition and highlighted every show of solidarity demanding the end of the siege of the Caribbean nation, which received the marathon adjectives of genocidal and criminal.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also highlighted Europe for Cuba initiative, a platform activated in October 2020 to defend the Revolution of January 1, 1959, on social networks and on the streets of the planet.
The president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando González, expressed his gratitude for the show of support received on April 2 and 3 during the 24 hours uninterrupted transmissions to denounce the U.S. blockade and demand its immediate lifting.
Traditional and alternative media, solidarity associations, international organizations, political forces, and personalities responded to the call with programs, messages, and videos to ratify their repudiation of the siege, and the attempts at economic asphyxiation intensified by the last two administrations in the White House.
We thank the channel Europe for Cuba and the friends of the associations, and the official and independent media for the signs of affection towards the Cuban people in the 24-hour media marathon on YouTube said the island's ambassador to France, Otto Vaillant, who participated in the initiative.
Likewise, the ambassadors to Belgium and Russia, Yaira Jimenez and Julio Garmendia, participated in the marathon with messages of recognition for the new global mobilization against the blockade.
During the media marathon, Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernández de Cossío denounced the lies and pretexts used by Washington to maintain and intensify its hostile policy towards the Caribbean country.
