Cuba Favors the Integration of Young People to the Government

These Cuban elections highlight the integration of youth to the new legislature of the National Assembly of People’s Power, for its leadership in the community, values, capacity and commitment to the destiny of the Revolution, 80 young people between 18 and 35 years of age are deputies to the National Assembly, as the average age of the members of the Parliament is 49.
 
According to Leydima de la Caridad Cárdenas, a student of Accounting and Finance, the youngest deputy in the Cuban parliament, who read the oath, it is essential the participation of the young people in the whole process of decision making in the government of our country, which is committed to the continuity of the socialist process.
 
After the election of the presidency of the National Assembly of People's Power in Cuba (ANPP), as established by the Electoral Law, the candidacy will be submitted to the Council of State, composed after the consultation process with the 605 deputies elected.
 
The Council of State is the organ of the ANPP that executes the agreements of the Assembly and fulfills the other functions that the Constitution attributes to it. It has a collegial character and, for national and international purposes, it has the supreme representation of the Cuban State.
 
The constitution of the Parliament, the election of its President, Vice President and Secretary, besides the election of the Council of State, takes place today in Havana. With this step, the general elections, convened last June by the Council of State, will conclude.
