The 5th regular period of sessions of the 9th Legislature of the National Assembly of the Popular Power (ANPP) started today with the presence of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and other historical leaders of the Revolution.
The working session takes place virtually from the Plenary Hall of the Convention Center in Havana, with the participation of congressmen from all the Cuban provinces and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, as well as members of the Council of State and Ministers.
Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the ANPP, recalled the importance of the date on which the 61st Anniversary of the physical disappearance of Commander Camilo Cienfuegos is commemorated and the life work of several deputies who died during this period, including Eusebio Leal, historian of Havana.
During the session, deputies will approve four bills, which were modified in previous work meetings following the opinions of legislators and citizens.
The parliamentary agenda also analyzes the state budget's liquidation in 2019, the economic-social strategy to boost the economy and the confrontation with a prolonged global crisis, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
They will also analyze the draft laws of the Foreign Service, the operation and organization of the Council of Ministers, the revocation of those elected to positions in the People's Power Bodies and the President and Vice President of the Republic.
