
A project for the integrated management of drought designed to mitigate its negative effects on Food and Nutrition Security and on water supply in eastern Cuba is being developed at the Provincial Meteorological Center of Holguín as part of its measures to contribute to sustainable development.

On Tuesday, Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, highlighted the illegitimacy of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade, a policy maintained and intensified by the United States despite the rejection of the international community.

The province of Holguín, the third most densely populated in Cuba, exhibits results in environmental management, included in sustainable development and resilience programs against the effects of climate change.

The resident coordinator of the United Nations system, Francisco Pichón, affirmed this Wednesday that UN agencies, funds and programs are at Cuba's disposal to contribute to the promotion of micro, small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs), cooperatives and self-employed citizens' jobs.

The increase in connections to hydraulic networks is one of the strategies developed in the province of Holguín to serve vulnerable neighborhoods, one of the government programs prioritized in this eastern territory.
