Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, in his capacity as a lawmaker of the National People's Power Assembly (Parliament) visited several social works in progress in the eastern province of Holguín on Saturday.

The Cuban government maintains its policy of "Zero Tolerance" for any form of trafficking in persons and continues to implement the National Plan of Action, with the aim of preventing and confronting this scourge, which mainly affects women and girls. Cuba is currently betting on bringing international tourism back on track, so as to make of it the “locomotive” of the island’s economy, as it used to be called a few years back.
Quoted on Tuesday by Granma newspaper, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero emphasized the need for all local sectors to work together to that aim, as he assessed the sector’s performance in 2024 and its perspectives in 2025 at a meeting in Havana.

The preparations for the upcoming sugar harvest in the province of Holguín are currently focused on repairing the means and equipment for the sugarcane cutting and transportation processes and on the readiness of the four sugar mills that will enter into operation in the upcoming 2020-21 season.
