Cuban diplomatic authorities in Mexico are supporting relatives and friends of the victims of a traffic accident that occurred in that country, an official of the Caribbean island's Foreign Ministry said Friday.

The Canadian company Sherritt International Corp. will invest in Cuba to increase the production of nickel and cobalt, essential minerals in the production of more powerful and long-lasting batteries, it was reported today.

The meeting, initially scheduled to last two days, is held in a single session via videoconference, precisely “taking into account the complex situation the country is experiencing.”
