The Inejiro Asanuma Spinning Plant in the province of Holguín strengthens production for the health sector in Cuba as a way to replace imports in the face of the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island more than six decades ago.

About 70 Mipymes (Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises) officially constituted in Holguín are currently benefiting from the portfolio of credit opportunities offered by the Bank of Credit and Commerce (Bandec) in this province, which favors the development of these new actors of the Cuban economy.

The province of Holguín implements the Cooperative Agroforestry Development Project (PRODECAFE), aimed mainly at increasing the cultivation of coffee and cocoa in strategic areas of the eastern Cuban region.

The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade (Mincex) was founded on February 23, 1961, by Law No. 934. This constituted a fundamental link in the country's economic policy, as it allowed the Cuban State to manage and control all exchange operations between nations.
