The internationalization of Cuban higher education is consolidating in Eurasia through the academic mobility program with Russia. The third edition of this program currently features a multidisciplinary team of professors from the University of Holguín (UHo) undertaking highly specialized research stays in Russia.

Under the framework of bilateral agreements between the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba (MES) and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the project is positioned as a key platform for knowledge exchange, cutting-edge research, and the strengthening of scientific ties between the two nations.

According to M.Sc. Rosabel González Cruz, professor and methodology specialist in International Relations at the University of Holguín (UHo), who is in charge of collaboration with Europe, Asia, and Canada, this process is based on a rigorous call for applications issued jointly by the ministries of education of both countries.

After an exhaustive selection process that considers institutional interests and the research lines of the professors, the Cuban professionals, mostly immersed in master's and doctoral training processes, carry out short but highly fruitful stays in Russian universities.

The impact of this agreement is evident in direct fieldwork and in highly specialized laboratories, where the University of Holguín (UHo) boasts a strong multidisciplinary presence.

Beyond the scientific and research rigor inherent to their specialties, the professors participate in a comprehensive program that includes regular Russian language instruction throughout their stay.

They also engage in an intensive sociocultural program that encompasses direct exchanges with students and professors from the host faculties, as well as conferences on the Cuban variant of Spanish at the Moscow State Linguistic University.

This effort stems from agreements and visits by high-ranking academic authorities, including the Rector's participation in the Cuba-Russia Rectors' Forum and her visits to St. Petersburg and various institutions.

Furthermore, it involves co-sponsoring high-impact events such as the "United Culture" event at the NUST MISIS State University, consolidating a network of cooperation that strengthens institutional relations.

Strengthening these links with institutions in Eurasia projects the academic excellence of UHo and its scientific leadership beyond national borders, raising the prestige of the university and making the university community of the province deeply proud. (Source: Radio Angulo)
