The city of Holguín is gearing up to host the 32nd Ibero-American Culture Festival, which will take place from October 24 to 30, 2026.
This year's event will feature 30 delegates from 10 countries and will be dedicated to arts education, recognizing the key role of academic training in safeguarding the identity and traditions of peoples.
The organizational details were announced during a recent press conference held at the iconic Casa de Iberoamérica (House of Ibero-America).
The meeting was led by Yakelin Tapia, Provincial Director of Culture, and Ernesto Angulo, Director of the Casa de Iberoamérica and President of the Organizing Committee, among others, who detailed the logistical and curatorial efforts to ensure an event that continues to solidify its position as an essential platform for theoretical, community, and artistic exchange.
The opening gala, scheduled for the evening of October 24, will bring together students and teachers from all the province's art schools. This presentation will not only mark the start of the festivities but will also highlight the generational shift and the vitality of the cultural education system in the region.
The Plaza de Iberoamérica, the spaces dedicated to the Fiesta Campesina (Peasant Festival), and the Ibero-American Colloquium of Letters will maintain their usual spaces for direct interaction with the public, fostering dialogue between rural traditions, literature, and popular expressions.
Meanwhile, the reflective and academic dimension will be led by the XXI Ibero-American Congress of Thought, which will take place from October 25 to 27 in the halls of the La Periquera Provincial Museum.
Under the motto "Ancestral Cultures, Contemporary Perspectives," this forum celebrates its 21st anniversary, reaffirming its status as an essential space for the study, research, and debate surrounding the historical and social processes that unite Ibero-America.
In parallel, the world of artisanal creation and papermaking will hold its 4th Meeting, with a shared program between the Iberian Center and the "El Alba" Regional Academy.
In the days leading up to the official opening, further details are expected to be released regarding the arrival of international delegations and the participation of local talent in one of the most important events on the Cuban cultural scene.
Beyond its festive and academic dimensions, the Ibero-American Culture Festival is a cornerstone of Holguín's identity and pride, reaffirming its status year after year as the capital of international exchange and dialogue in eastern Cuba. (Source: Radio Angulo)
