Construction of photovoltaic park Serones Tres progresses in Holguín

The Serones Three photovoltaic park, located in Cueto, Holguín, is progressing with the completion of its first construction phase, as part of Holguín's energy matrix transition to renewable sources.
Manuel Alejandro Suárez Sánchez, the project's technical supervisor, said that construction actions involved clearing the land's vegetation cover.
The park will provide a generating capacity of 21.8 megawatts (MW) to the National Electric System during daytime hours, and installation is expected to be completed in December.It will cover 35 hectares and include over 42,000 solar panels of 460 watts each.
He also detailed the removal of 97,000 cubic meters of topsoil, the creation of a security line, and the construction of guardhouses, following the arrival of containers with the resources and wiring necessary for the fence's installation.
The construction is managed by Engineering Works Construction Company No.16, with the Electric Company as an investor, and the support from other entities.
Serones Tres is part of Holguín´s plan to generate 109 MW by the end of 2025 through five similar photovoltaic farms.
A donation from the People's Republic of China, will support another project that will generate 120 MW nationwide, of which the eastern province will initially receive 40, distributed across several sites.
The construction of solar farms is a strategy implemented by the country since 2024 with the goal of increasing generation capacity through renewable energy sources, gradually replacing more costly and polluting energy sources. (Source: ACN)
