Prague and Holguín connected with inaugural tourism flight

The 2024-2025 winter high season began on Saturday in the tourist pole of Holguín with the inaugural flight of the airline World2Fly, from the tour operator Der Touristik, which linked the Czech Republic with this northeastern province of Cuba for the first time.

In this way, a direct Prague-Holguín connection begins, with weekly trips to the Frank País international airport, weekly frequency and planned to extend until March 2025.

This start of operations began with the A330-300 aircraft with some 285 visitors, whose destination are hotels managed by the Gaviota Group, among them: the Grand Memories Holguín and Ramón de Antilla, as well as Playa Pesquero, Paradisus Río de Oro, Iberostar Selection Holguín and Aston Costa Verde.

Ian Marek, responsible for contracting the product, said that this is the second season in which they operate in Cuba, since last year they started in Santa Clara. "Now this start-up in the eastern region has been very well received, because the plane came at full capacity."

He announced that starting in December they will add another flight from Slovakia, also with a weekly frequency and scheduled until March.

As a distinctive feature of these trips the client can buy a stay of one or two weeks in the Pesquero, Esmeralda or Ramón de Antilla beach hotels, although they also offer combined ones with the peculiarity that the first night is spent in Holguín and then they have the facility to continue to Santiago, with visits to different places.

For his part, Carlos Álvarez Infante, salesperson for the Ministry of Tourism in Holguín, said that the high season usually starts in the country at the beginning of November; However, on this occasion Holguín went ahead with the starting of this new route.

He exploained that traditional operations from Germany, Italy, Canada and the United States will be maintained and at the end of this month or the beginning of december, airlines with activities for this stage of the year will be incorporated, such as Air Canada, to achieve between 60 to 63 weekly flights in general.
