Spanish monarchs with an intense agenda in official visit to Havana

The King and Queen of Spain, Felipe VI and Letizia, attended yesterday evening a dance gala organized in their honor by the Ministry of Culture of Cuba and the National Council of Performing Arts, at the Alicia Alonso Havana´s Grand Theatre, in the first official visit of Spanish monarchs to Cuba.
 
The gala offered the presentation of the National Ballet of Cuba, as well as the performances of the Lizt Alfonso and Acosta Danza companies.
 
Before the gala, Felipe VI and Letizia attended the opening, in the gallery of the same theater, of the photo expo ¨Cuba and Spain, With You in the Distance, ¨an exhibition of 60 snapshots organized by the agencies EFE (Spain) and Prensa Latina (Cuba), which pays tribute to the historical relations between the two nations.

Today, the monarchs have scheduled a tour of the oldest part of Havana and a meeting with the Historian of the City, Eusebio Leal Spengler, where they will award him the Great Cross of the Royal and Distinguished Spanish Order of Charles III, in a ceremony to be held at the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, jewel of the city.
 
They will also grant the famous museum the Banner with the shield of Havana, a hand-woven tapestry, while they will receive as present the Giraldilla, historical symbol of this ancient city.
