The current government of Panama, with businessman Ricardo Martinelli in power, has abruptly and unilaterally decided to put an end to the eye-care cooperation agreement with Cuba internationally known as Operation Milagro. The main objective of the program, which exists in a number of countries around the region, is to restore and/or improve people’s eyesight, with totally free operations. It is designed for people with very limited economic resources. |
