Cuban Director Highlights Children´s Theater in Moa, Holguin

"In Moa, it is obviously that they develop not just the nickel but also child artistic talent," Carlos Alberto Cremata, director of *La Colmenita*, the best-known Cuban theater company for children, told the local media in eastern Moa, Holguin.

Cremata made the statement after the conclusion of the First National Children's Theater Meeting, held in this city for three days. The event, sponsored by “La Colmenita” Theater Company of Moa, was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Convention on Children's Rights.

Cremata praised the performance of the Moa Children´s Theater Company, which presented a variety of items from its repertoire during the event, including the premiere of the play "Materias Primas”, a topic of great importance for the saving and recovery of resources for our economy.

He said that Moa is a sure place to continue developing this meeting every year, between November 20 and 22, for which he proposed together with La Colmenita to invite other children's theater companies in the country as well as outstanding artists exponents of art for children in Cuba like Liuba Maria Hevia, the duo Karma and Rita del Prado, among others.

Cremata stressed that the Cuban Children Company “La colmenita” has also contributed with its performances to the creation of Children’s Theater Companies in other parts of the world, such as the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, where companies for children in the states of Miranda, Nueva Esparta and Caracas were created, as well as a company in Panama, one in the Mexican state of Kerétalo and in Seville, Spain. It is expected that companies in East Timor and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic will be created soon.

Besides the participation of Children’s Theater companies from the eastern region, representatives of “La colmenita” from the municipalities of Plaza, Playa and Havana Vieja of the Cuban capital, among other theater groups, music bands and clowns also attended the event.
