The Cuban Five: Justice, Reason and Truth

Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada, member of the Politburo and chairman of the Cuba´s People Power Assembly and Jorge Cuevas Ramos, First Secretary of the Communist Party in Holguin, presided over the rally where participants demanded the immediate release of Ramon, Gerardo, Antonio, Rene and Fernando, imprisoned in the United States for trying to prevent terrorist actions against Cuba.

Alarcon recalled the events of Boca de Sama, a small village that suffered a terrorist attack perpetrated from the United States. He also referred to a series of terrorist acts committed against Cuba and gave names of murderers like Posada Carriles, Antonio Iglesias, Gustavo Villoldo, agents of the Central Intelligence Agency. Gustavo Villoldo was also involved in the assassination of Che Guevara.
"None of them is in prison, nor has received punishment for those crimes. Yet the extradition request for Posada Carriles to complete his trial in Venezuela has not been answered, " Alarcon added.

However, they talk about five Cuban “spies”, convicted by Atlanta Court of Appeals; the very court that after 10 years admitted that they were under pressure by the Bush administration to issue harsh sentences.

After 11 years the struggle for the liberation of the Cuban Five continues. But the new US administration must know that the apparent flexibility they hold will not stop the worldwide support on the case.
