By Alfredo Carralero / redaccion@ahora.cu / Friday, 08 January 2010 09:39

The Loynaz Hechavarria sugar factory, in the municipality of Cueto, is the first industry to start manufacturing cane sugar the current harvest in the province of Holguin - one of the largest Cuban producers in that economic line.

Pedro Silva, the branch general manager here, praised the favorable technical and organizational conditions of the current harvest which would last about 104 days.

Contrary to the previous harvest, Silva said, the four sugar companies in Holguin would bring forward in time the harvest opening mostly because of having all the required resources for the machinery, the industry, the transport and all other branches involved in sugar production.

In the opening rally held at the Loynaz Hechavarria sugar factory, Silva underscored that all the cane belonging to that company will be harvested by Cuban made harvesters, what would lead to mill in time all the raw material long before the rainy season comes.

Along with the "Loynaz Hechavarria" sugar factory, this season other three companies will be milling in Holguin, the Fernando de Dios, the Cristino Naranjo and the Urbano Noris, whose workers have the commitment of milling steadily and with high yielding in order to possibly end the current harvest by upcoming April.

Jorge Cuevas Ramos, member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and its first secretary in Holguin province attended the harvest start in Cueto. /Radio Angulo
