Once again, the holguinero Leonel Suárez showed that he is an elite athlete and this Monday he took first place in the decathlon of the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia, where Holguín won two more titles.
Leonel arrived at the last race, the 1500m, 33 points behind Colombian José Gregorio Lemos and needed to do a good race and that's how he did it, a step that his rival couldn't keep.
Finally Leonel Suárez won the title with 8026 points and relegated Lemos to second and third place with 7913 points and also Cuban Briander Rivero (7858).
On Monday the holguineros competitors added two other titles, through Danay Utria, in the set of three balls and two ropes of the rhythmic gymnastics, and the shooter Leuris Pupo, in the team by teams of the gun to 25 meters.
