Holguín Weightlifters to Compete in World Championship

pesas.jpgHolguín weightlifters Víctor Quiñones and Juan Columbié, in the in the 94 kg and 105 kg divisions, respectively, will take part in the World Championship that will run from November 28 to December 5 in Anaheim, United States.

They will be two of the three Cubans who will go to that contest. Quiñones is until now the only weightlifter in the eastern province of Holguín who has attended World Cups, since he competed in Almati, Kazakhstan-2014 and Boston, United States-2015, in both cases with modest results.

Quiñones could improve his performance in the world competition, as he is a young man in full rise, with qualities to achieve good results in the international scene of this discipline.

For the newcomer Columbié, this World Cup will be the biggest commitment in his short but already fruitful sport career. He also meets the requirements to stand out in the world contest.

In a recent tournament held in Guatemala, Quiñones and Columbié qualified for the Central American and Caribbean Games, which will take place in Barranquilla, Colombia, in the summer of 2018. They were also medalists in the Pan-American Championship this year.
