Ramiro Valdés Tours Economic Entities in Moa

Photos: Kegnar Pereira MatosThe investment and production plans of the nickel industries were checked in Moa by Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers.


In a meeting held at the Che Guevara factory, were analyzed the causes that have influenced the failure to fulfill metallurgical efficiency, among them the high fluctuation of the personnel, the lack of financing for investments and maintenance, and the requirement and preparation of cadres, specialists and technicians, as well as the actions to counteract them.

The Hero of the Republic of Cuba called to be more strict in order to achieve a better efficiency, and referred to the role that corresponds to political and mass organizations in the factory, which closed October with the accumulated production to 96 , 5 percent and utilities.

Participants reviewed the investments, repairs, maintenance and projects of this industry and of the joint venture Commander Pedro Sotto Alba, which implements actions that allowed to achieve the mining plan at 102 percent and exceeded production at the end of October with greater efficiency.

Accompanied by the leaders of the Party in the province of Holguín and the municipality of Moa, the Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Nickel Business Group, Valdés Menéndez knew that prices of nickel and cobalt that have been above of the planned in the last stage, have favored the economic result of both entities.

In the meeting, chaired by the Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez and by the member of the Council of State and president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, Inés María Chapman, it was also checked the investments being carried out at the East-West water transfer, which allowed to guarantee the water supply to the city of Holguín and the northeastern tourist destination during the drought of previous months, as well as the power generation of a mini hydroelectric plant of more of 21 GigaWatt in 13 months.
