Holguín Boosts City Tourism

hotel_ordono.jpgThe Delegation of the Ministry of Tourism in Holguin runs a strategy to achieve a greater development of City excursion in this northeastern Cuban province.

More than 15 percent of foreign visitors staying at sun and beach hotels in Esmeralda, Guardalavaca and Pesquero resorts make trips to Holguín and Gibara, attracted by the natural, historical and heritage values of these cities.

Cultural events such as the Romerías de Mayo, the Ibero-American Culture Festival and the Gibara International Film Festival are also incentives for visitors.

The hotel group Cubanacán has 340 rooms for the progress of this modality, belonging to the hotels Ordoño and Arsenita, in the coastal town of Gibara and the Caballeriza hotel, in the Cuban city of parks.

An investment project for the development of city tourism in the province includes high-value heritage properties, such as the Hotel Plaza Colón, also in Gibara, in addition to the Esmeralda and the Saratoga, in Holguín. The latter, with 32 rooms belonging to the Encanto hotels chain, a building of eclectic style, considered a landmark for Holguin architecture.

City tourism will allow the province to increase the number of customers, revenue, explore new markets and revalue the tourism product under the premise of an offer of excellence. The Gibara product will be presented during the International Tourism Fair, to be held in Holguin from May 3 to 6. / Aldia.cu
