Holguin to Host FitCuba 2017 with Germany as Guest of Honor

cuba-fitcuba.jpgThe 37th International Tourism Fair FitCuba 2017 will be held in the eastern province of Holguín from May 3 to 6, with Germany as guest country of honor, said Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero.

Marrero announced in the social network Facebook of the official website of the Ministry that the event will be dedicated to the tour modality, reports today the Cuban News Agency.

At the end of the first half of 2016, Germany ranked fourth on the list of the leading market of tourists to the island, with 125,438 travelers and a rise of 44.8 percent compared to the same period of 2015, according to data from the National Office of Statistics and Information.

FitCuba is the most important event of the so-called leisure industry on the island and in which entrepreneurs, tour operators and travel agents participate.

The Caribbean nation registered on December 30 four million foreign visitors, which is a record for the country, the agency reported.

This represents an overachievement of six percent compared to the figure forecasted for the year and an increase of 13 percentage points compared to 2015.

The regions that most contributed to this result in 2016 were North America and Europe, in addition to countries from other continents that also experienced a significant increase in the market of tourists to the Caribbean island, the ministry said. / Prensa Latina
