Holguín Hospital Begins Celebration of 52nd Anniversary

hosp_lenin.jpgThe celebrations for the 52nd anniversary of the General Hospital Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, founded by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz, on November 7, 1965, will begin today and will extend until the 11th of November in the city of Holguín.

Divis Nubia Tamayo, an official of that health center, told the local media that the celebrations include meetings among generations, book presentations and talks with founders of the institution.

According to Tamayo, more than 100 research papers will be presented in different specialties within medicine in the scientific day.

Keynote lectures by doctors Agustín Mulet and Pura Avilés, recognized in the eastern territory for their contributions to science and medical practice, are also among the activities planned, she added.

As every year, on the anniversary of the institution, one of the first built for medical services in eastern Cuba after the triumph of the Revolution, health professionals will be recognized with the Lenin Prize, for their contribution to the development of the center, fruit of the collaboration between Cuba and the former Soviet Union.
