Holguín Symphony Orchestra to Homage Ernesto “Che” Guevara

Concierto_Sinfnica.JPGThe Holguín Symphony Orchestra will offer a concert in honor of the 50th anniversary of the fall in combat of Ernesto Guevara and in support of the victims of Hurricane Irma, on Sunday, October 8 at the Eddy Suñol Theater, in the eastern Cuban city.

The group will play in unison with its five similar ones from the rest of the Caribbean nation to respond to the initiative of the Cuban Music Institute. "We are happy to put our bit and to encourage, through culture, people who have lived a difficult situation after the passing of the weather phenomenon," said Oreste Saavedra, conductor of the orchestra.

The concert, which will be free, includes an arrangement of the song Hasta siempre Comandante performed by Orlando Vistel and the tango Adiós Nonino by Astor Piazzolla. It also includes a wide repertoire of iconic Cuban songs such as Guaguancó, 20 years, El Manisero and Alma con alma.
