China said on Thursday that it had submitted protests to some countries, due to the cancellations of flights amid the ongoing outbreak of the 2019-NCov coronavirus, a decision that has only caused more panic and confusion.

Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a news conference that her Government opposes such extremist decisions that are against the recommendations from the World Health Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Their actions, she charged, cause more panic in the public and do not help to control the epidemic, they have seriously interrupted the normal contacts among people, international cooperation and the order of air transportation.

'We urge the pertinent countries to think carefully, to not exaggerate their reactions or restrict flights operated by both parties (?) they must immediately correct their policies and take measures to support the battle against the coronavirus,' the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman stressed.

She pointed out that the National Civil Aviation Administration had taken precautions to reduce the presence of the virus on planes as low as possible and, if any case is detected, to provide immediate care.

Hua stressed that China will not suspend flights and the domestic airlines will bring back the Chinese citizens stranded abroad due to the increasing cancellation of flights from and to its airports. / PL
