Pope Francis on Thursday denounced in Vatican City the situations of injustice and human pain in today's world.

Speaking at a meeting of the Jesuits' Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat, the pontiff recalled that human trafficking, expressions of xenophobia and the selfish pursuit of national interests still persist.

Francis also noted, 'inequality between and within countries is growing without finding any remedy,' and advocated tasks to 'accompany the victims, to see in their faces the face of our crucified Lord.'

He also stressed the need to reflect on the reality of the world, unmask its evils, and creatively discover the best solutions.

The Pope advocated 'a true cultural revolution, a transformation of our collective gaze, our attitudes, our ways of seeing ourselves,' stressid the need to undertake 'the slow work of changing structures, through participation in public dialogue, where decisions are made that affect the lives of the most vulnerable.' / PL
