The Sports Initiation School (EIDE) in Holguín received a significant donation of sports equipment, which contributes to the training of athletes at the local sports academy.
Holguín is once again represented among the elite of continental softball. Shortstop Luis Raúl Domínguez, from Sagua de Tánamo, and pitcher Rafael Guerra, from Mayarí, are part of the Cuban team that will participate in the Men's Pan American Championship, scheduled for February 21-28 in the Colombian city of Montería.
The Cuban team that will participate on February 5 to 13 in the 2nd Baseball Series of the Americas was presented with its flag at Havana’s Latin American Stadium by the renowned former pitcher and coach Pedro Luis Lazo and received by team captain Alfredo Despaigne Rodríguez, symbolically escorted by outfielders Roelquis Gibert and Roel Santos.
In 2025, Holguín had an outstanding sports year, with achievements that stood out nationally and internationally. The province reemerged on the competitive scene, excelling in team sports, regaining prominence in baseball, and celebrating major medals in global events. Overall, the results showed a strong and growing sports movement in Holguín.
