New measures to contain COVID-19 are being adopted in health centers of the province of Holguín, as part of the protection programs for vulnerable sectors and guarantees of medical capacities amid the rise in positive cases.
With the delivery to the province of Holguin of 500, 000 doses of the Cuban vaccine Abdala, the eastern territory extends the booster immunization to populations and groups at risk, as part of the priorities of the public health sector for the control of the COVID-19.
The growth of medical attention for respiratory infections, together with the rise in positives for SARS-CoV-2 in the last week in Holguín and given the circulation of the new Omicron variant in Cuba, health authorities in the territory reinforce measures of confrontation, prevention and control of COVID-19 from primary care to the border, with the aim of minimizing the possible incidence of the disease, given the high transmissibility of this variant.
The Secretary of Health of Mexico, Jorge Alcocer, said during the morning press conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador that Cuba’s Covid-19 vaccine Abdala meets the required quality parameters.
