Cuba began the evaluation of the damages after the fire of significant proportions occurred at the Supertanker Base in the city of Matanzas.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. this Tuesday, the Cuban Fire Department reported that after an on-site exploration, they verified that the fourth tank in the industrial zone of Matanzas collapsed and that the four tanks in the area of the blaze melted down.

Jose Angel Portal Miranda, Cuban minister of public health, reviewed today the actions planned for when the fire at the Supertanker Base in Matanzas is extinguished, together with anthropologists, speciaaists from legal medicine and experts from the Ministry of the Interior.

The cooling of tanks and affected areas, based on the application of foam and water, continues this evening as an effective strategy to extinguish the fire that occurred in the industrial zone of the province of Matanzas.
