Pope Francis yesterday stressed the importance of the decision of the Cuban Government to free 553 prisoners sentenced for various causes, within the context of the Jubilee of the Catholic Church in 2025.
"Why do some people have to walk barefoot for others to travel in luxurious automobiles? Why do some people have to live 35 years for others to live 70? Why do some people have to be miserably poor for others to be exaggeratedly rich? I speak in the name of the children in the world who do not have a piece of bread; I speak in the name of the sick who do not have medicine; I speak in the name of those who have been denied the right to life and human dignity."
The United Nations Office in Cuba will present today at its headquarters a response plan following the devastation caused by Hurricane Oscar, which left severe damage in the eastern part of the country at the end of October.
Once again, the majority of the member countries of the United Nations voted in favor of the Resolution that demands the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.
