University of Holguín expects to successfully conclude the school year

The University of Holguín stands out among the advanced in the country in the completion of studies corresponding to the 2019-2020 academic year, since it has graduated 1,472 new professionals to date.
Dr C Roberto Pérez Almaguer, vice-rector of the University, highlighted in press conference that the majority of the diplomats discussed their work in June and July, despite the complexities caused by Covid19.
Pérez Almaguer noted the uniqueness of the teaching process with graduation of professionals from two study plans and the important figure of 358 graduates of the course by meeting of the municipal university branches.
At this time, the UHo gives priority to the attention of students from the first to the penultimate year of each degree, which confirms its mission to continue training the competent professionals the territory requires, he said.
"We have 2 614 students incorporated into the classrooms and residences, complying with all the hygienic-sanitary measures established by the Ministry of Public Health," he added.
Pérez highlighted the assistance of the health personnel in the welcoming of the students and the establishment of measures that allow maintaining physical distance in the different areas, including teaching, residence and dining room.
In this sense, he pointed to the availability of specialized classrooms and other premises that are added to the usual areas for teaching.
In particular, he noted the curricular readjustment carried out in each of the careers and years to comply with the provisions of the study plan and satisfactorily conclude the school year with all the objectives fulfilled.
"Many of our careers had work practices planned in the second semester, so in order not to affect this discipline, we also made adjustments in accordance with the agencies and companies so that the hours dedicated to the practice can be combined with the curricular component" explained the vice-rector.
In the case of the Course by Meeting, the conditions are created to conclude the school year with quality in each of the Municipal University Branches, he said.
The UHo has 13 weeks to finish the school year, of which nine are dedicated to the curricular component and the rest to work practice and evaluations. So on November 27 the school stage must conclude.
