Holguin implements General Plan of Territorial and Urban Planning

Holguin renews and grows. A general plan of territorial and urban planning has been designed to meet the objectives of economic and social progress by 2030.
 
Various sectors benefit from the implementation of comprehensive actions in order to drive the sustainable development of the province. The scope of this plan covers the north coast, the head city and seven municipalities of economic relevance.

The growth of tourism activity is the driving force. The creation of modalities that take advantage of endogenous resources and local attractions along with the demand of the different tourist markets towards Cuba support the proposal for the 12 destinations of wide natural, historical and sociocultural potential.
 
New sources of employment and skilled labor resources will see the light with the increase in tourism, which will also require the construction of housing and development areas.

The construction of the east-west transfer is part of the investments in the hydraulic infrastructure. More than 300 km of networks will guarantee the water supply to the population, the tourist area and the incorporation of the areas under irrigation to increase the yield of agricultural production.

Among other actions, the change of the energy matrix through the use of renewable energy sources, which will materialize in the location of 26 photovoltaic solar parks and five wind farms.

The high level of diversification and conditions for economic activity and the development of the productions in the territory, make it possible with this scheme to contemplate a process of linking between all the essential sectors of society with a vision of the future.

The head municipality is favored with the operation of the system of settlements and housing construction, which will amount to more than 75 thousand the figure planned for construction.

Similarly, the image and urban structure throughout the territory are transformed with the management of local development projects, the renovation of public spaces and the recovery of facilities to optimize the provision of services and increase the quality of life of the population.
