Minister of Transport evaluates indicators of the sector in Holguín

The Cuban Minister of Transport, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, made a work visit to the province of Holguín on Thursday, with the aim to assess the operation of different indicators of the government's operation port-transport-internal economy.
Rodríguez Dávila recognized the performance of Holguín during the period of energy contingency, as a series of measures were adopted to protect the residential sector and guaranteed the timely delivery of the products of the basic family basket, even in the most difficult access areas of the Turquino Plan, in addition to the transfer of patients and passengers.
He also insisted on the sensitivity of transport workers, and said: "We must think like the population, because the only way to improve the service is to feel their concerns and know what they expect from us."
In the municipality of Banes, the Minister met with workers from the Ferroazúcar Base Business Unit Jesús Suárez Gayol of the Eastern Railway Division, where he knew about the maintenance and repair actions of three medium-sized locomotives linked to the sugar industry.
Rodríguez Dávila noted the importance of the workshop, since the technical availability of these engines in the country depends on the results of the innovative activities carried out by their specialists.
"The entity ensures the main means to guarantee the harvest in the territory and culminated the transportation plan of 2019 to 105 percent, as a sign of its great performance," said the minister.
He was interested in the working conditions of the workers, especially the payment system, the use of the protection means and the need to have a new vehicle for technical assistance, which constitutes a concern for the personnel.

The Head of the Branch noted as priorities for the transport sector the development of cabotage and rail, in the latter specifically the rehabilitation of infrastructure to obtain greater safety and better driving conditions.
In addition, work is carried out in other areas, such as regulations for the acquisition of fuel by private carriers and the adjustment of prices. In this regard, he highlighted the importance of constant exchange with the self-employed and clients, to analyze their opinions.
