The completion of teaching coverage for the 2025-2026 school year is a priority for the education sector in Holguín, reaching over 80% without resorting to external alternatives.

Facing staff shortages, especially in Basic Secondary Education, Technical and Professional Teaching, and key subjects such as English and Mathematics, final-year students from Pedagogical Schools and the Educating with Love contingent will be integrated, commented Luis Felipe Batista Rodríguez, director general of education in the province, during the Sector Preparation Seminar.

In areas with greater difficulties, such as the main municipality, additional strategies are activated such as calling on bodies and organizations, continuity in the creation of adjoining classrooms taught by methodologists and hiring professionals in Youth and Adult Education.

Batista Rodríguez added that economic incentives are promoted according to Resolution 10/2024, improvements in housing infrastructure for teachers, and continuing education through postgraduate courses and categorization processes.

With 43 weeks, the 2025-2026 school year will begin in September nationwide, with work objectives focusing on advancing the Third Improvement and pedagogical and cultural decolonization. (Source: ACN)
