Just hours before the end of 2024, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, returned to the municipality of Gibara, a territory that he represents in the National Assembly of People's Power, in his capacity as deputy, and with which he has maintained a close relationship throughout the year.
The work agenda included visits to institutions of social interest, which were visited by the head of government, accompanied by Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the province of Holguín; Sonia Adelaida Chacón Fernández, also a deputy for Gibara, and municipal authorities.
The delegation visited the Doctor Gustavo Alderguería Lima General Hospital, whose members were interested in the state of opinion of the health personnel and listened to their concerns, such as the problem of transportation for specialists residing in the provincial capital.
In this regard, Marrero Cruz insisted on the need to prioritize attention to medical institutions and the workers who work there.
This coastal municipality maintains stability in the arrival of donations of medical supplies, which has favored the attention and support to other parts of this northeastern territory, thanks to the volunteerism of the sector and local authorities.
They also visited the center belonging to the Family Care System (SAF), which is located in the facilities of an agricultural collection market and is responsible for feeding 128 people from the Gibara 1 and Gibara 2 people’s councils.
Most of those who go to the center are elderly and vulnerable people, as highlighted in the debate held, which was also conducive to checking the prices of the products and verifying the offers provided to the population.
In exchange with the local residents, he learned of the dissatisfaction that afflicts the elderly, related to the limited offers and the problems of production.
In this regard he indicated the authorities to critically review the actions and ways of doing things of the SAF workers.
The Nursing Home presents a different reality, as it shows renewed air and has 57 residents and 6 who attend as a day care home, a figure that still leaves it with the capacity to receive grandparents from different parts of the province and offer them the necessary care.
In conversation with the elderly, they praised the care provided by the center's staff and the favorable living conditions for everyone there.
The exchange of the deputies with the voters is strength for the policy of the Cuban social system and its result is palpable in Holguín, a few days away from reaching the 66th anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution, to be commemorated on January 1st.
