It is not enough to identify the mistakes that threaten the economy if we do not act accordingly to solve them, said Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, during the Extraordinary Meeting of the Provincial Council of People's Power in the eastern province of Holguín.

The meeting, held at the Celia Sanchez Manduley Theater, reviewed the progress in the implementation of measures aimed at correcting distortions and boosting the economy, the status of the increase and diversification of national productions, the strategies to reduce the fiscal deficit and the actions to protect the vulnerable.

Marrero Cruz, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), said that in terms of income, it is not only about the country's solvency, but that of the Cuban people, which is why it is necessary to rigorously comply with the established policies aimed at eliminating tax evasion, corruption in the business system and abusive prices with popular support.

Strengthening the surveillance from the localities and the instances in charge of tax control and imposing the corresponding fines for each violation and creating the conditions aimed at the progress of bankarization through proposals such as the extra cashier and the generalization of the use of QR codes for digital payment are tasks of the first order, he insisted.

Manuel Francisco Hernandez Aguilera, governor of Holguin, informed that through the application of new tax measures, the expected deficit has been reduced, which has achieved a surplus in the municipalities of Holguin, Banes and Moa, a result that needs to be replicated in the remaining municipalities and thus improve the state budget.

Marrero Cruz urged to produce more from the communities and develop initiatives aimed at taking advantage of underutilized capacities, since it is the physical, food or industrial productions that satisfy the demands of the population, increase supply and monetary generation and reduce acquisition costs.
Alexei Martinez, president of the Assembly of People's Power in Moa, presented his experience in this regard with the implementation of a project between the Nickel Research Center and the Doctor Antonio Nuñez Jimenez University that uses the circular economy in the manufacture of construction materials, which in turn helps the continuation of the National Housing Program.

Cuban head of government added the obligation to prioritize social work, one of the pillars of the system in the country, through the materialization of humanitarian works, the strengthening of risk prevention programs aimed at children and attention to vulnerable neighborhoods and population groups.
In this regard, Martha Feito, Minister of Labor and Social Security, pointed out that the territory has the highest rate of teenage pregnancies in Cuba, which exceeds 24 %, so it is necessary to coordinate preventive actions, as well as recognized the forms of assistance to working mothers with the creation of 22 children's houses.

Among the topics discussed at the meeting were the status of the process of accountability meetings of the delegate to his constituents, the support offered by Holguin institutions to Guantanamo after the passage of Hurricane Oscar and the evaluation of the municipal structures of the People's Power.
Cuban Prime Minister was accompanied by Antonio Rodriguez Rodriguez, president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources; Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the PCC Central Committee and first secretary in the province, among other political and governmental authorities and guests.
