The province of Holguín, the third most densely populated in Cuba, exhibits results in environmental management, included in sustainable development and resilience programs against the effects of climate change.
Alejandro Torres Gómez de Cádiz Hernández, provincial delegate of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, pointed out that these results focus on two main directions: the territorial strategy of the sphere and the application of the Cuban State Plan to confront climate change.
In this sense, several projects are promoted, including training actions aimed at the implementation of Law 150 on Natural Resources, which include related institutions and provide the tools channeled to master these regulations.
It also highlights the circular economy policy, one of the country's great priorities focused on the use of solid waste, which includes the Inejiro Asanuma Spinning Mill, located in the municipality of Gibara, he said.
The links with the Tourism sector also stands out in the province, aimed at eradicating single-use plastics and ozone layer depleting substances, with satisfactory results at the Playa Guardalavaca facilities.
The comprehensive mountain programs, the proposals for new protected areas and the management of the coastal zone, essential in territorial planning plans and the prospective development of tourism, are also highlighted among the projects.
Holguín has more than 200 projects aimed at contributing to the change in the energy matrix, electronic government, local food production and science and technological innovation policy. (Source: ACN)
