Holguín to host 31st edition of Romerías de Mayo

The “Romerías de Mayo” festival, one of the most representative cultural events held every year in the city of Holguín, will take place here from May 3 to 8 with the participation of national and foreign guests.

 

At a press conference held in this city, Armando Ruíz, president of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in the territory, and Yaquelin Tapia, provincial director of Culture, informed about the novelties of this year’s event.

On this occasion, the Artistic Youth Festival will be dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Casa de las Americas and the Cuban Film Institute (Icaic).

The festival will start with the traditional ascent of the Axe of Holgu;in, symbol of the city, to the top of the Loma de la Cruz.

According to Tapia, the event will have the performance of popular singers such as Tony Ávila, Alexander Abreu and Havana D’Primera, Polito Ibáñez, Dúo Iris, Nelson Valdés and Ron con Cola.

The festival brings together creators from almost all over the country and from different parts of the world with several events in different squares, parks, centers and communities, with a broad program that includes concerts, theoretical events, plastic and scenic arts spaces and book presentations, among others.

DJ Whisper, organizer of Electroromerías, announced that the courtyard of the Unaicc in the city of parks will host the event with young exponents of the genre, as well as rap, fusion and electronic music proposals.

The events will take place simultaneously in areas prepared for the development of activities, which, during the Romerías, turn the city of Holguín into the capital of young art in Cuba.
