Three Holguín women were recognized with the orders Mariana Grajales and Ana Betancourt, the highest distinction awarded by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba at the proposal of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC).
The ceremony was held held on Monday in El Laguito Protocol Hall, in Havana, in the presence of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and president of the Republic, among other leaders.
Susana Virgen Caballero Pupo, from the municipality of Rafael Freyre, is among the five Cubans who, by presidential decree 650, received the Mariana Grajales Order, which is awarded to Cuban citizens whose work constitutes an exceptional sample of revolutionary attitude or internationalism for extraordinary contributions to the formation of the new generations, to the achievement of the full incorporation of women into society, to the development of the country or the defense of the homeland.
The Ana Betancourt Order was also granted to María Antonia Rill Llorente from the municipality of Mayarí and Dr. Milagros Mekín Guerra, director General of the Fermín Valdés Military Hospital in Holguín.
Regarding the activities for the 63rd anniversary of the creation of the FMC on August 23, another group of consecrated Holguín women will receive recognition in activities in the different territories.
The main ceremony for the event will take place on August 22 in Plaza de la Revolución Calixto García Íñiguez, where outstanding members of the organization will receive the awards.
