Several projects aimed at promoting the cultural heritage in eastern Cuba, stand out among the alternatives of Holguin province to protect local traditions, distinctive of the region.

These projects have been extended to the municipalities of Gibara, Báguanos and Cueto, representative of the national history by the development of native customs and trade during the colonial period.

María Eugenia Brito, specialist of the Provincial Center for these projects, said that there are cultural routes located in those population settlements, which highlight the identity values of its inhabitants.

One of these routes, she said, is located in Báguanos, about 30 kilometers from the Cuban city of the parks, where sugar is the main economic line and includes the sale of derivatives such as raspadura and guarapo.

Holguín also has two other cultural routes, the route from Cueva de los Panaderos, located in areas of Gibara, recognized for its aboriginal pictographs, to the Museum of Natural History of that castal town, and the Way of the Virgin, in the municipality of Cueto.

These tours propose the sale of handicrafts, flowers, candles, made in the locality and also include representative aspects of the wars for Cuban national liberation, as part of the teaching and promotion of history programs.

This strategy is included within the Guidelines approved in the VII Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, specifically on the 17th, which proposes the creation of initiatives, whose financial contributions can be used to advance those territories through local development projects. / ACN
