Holguín Botanical Garden with proposals for summer season

The festival "Friends of the Botanical Garden" is the main summer proposal of the facility, located about five kilometers from the historic center of the city of Holguín, as part of the recreational offers for this summer season.

This participation contest is held every August through social networks with the aim to promote the cultivation of ornamental plants, told the ACN José Luis Gómez, a specialist from that entity attached to the Research Center and Environmental Services.

He added that this edition will also include the category of miniature gardens, very popular among fans of collections of cacti, succulents and other types of plants suitable for this type of design.

The Festival also allows the exchange between fans and specialists on the care of different types of plants, which includes adolescents and young people interested in botany, one of the priorities of vocational training projects in Cuba.

The initiative joins a broad program of activities in the science sector during the months of July and August, including exhibitions, book presentations and conferences on historical topics in collaboration with local museums such as La Periquera.

Environmental education in the coastal zone is also included, through the collection of solid waste and conservation actions of flora and fauna species typical of the beaches, with a large influx of vacationers in this period.

In Holguín, cultural, sports and recreational activities are also carried out, focused on the enjoyment of Holguin residents in their own communities, where gastronomic offers and options for children are inserted. (Source: ACN)
