Holguín tobacco growers are committed to achieving higher yields in the 2022-2023 tobacco campaign, which began this Thursday at Las Vegas farm, owned by producer Ruber Rodríguez Leyva, in the community of San Andrés.
Belonging to the CCS Jesús Menéndez Larrondo, the farm was chosen for the third time to celebrate the opening ceremony and the guide planting, due to its sustained progress.
Raciel Aguilera Pérez, general director of the Holguín tobacco collection, twisting and processing company, highlighted the results achieved in the 2021-2022 campaign despite the limitations imposed by the economic, financial and commercial blockade on the purchase of supplies.
He noted that the present campaign takes place in a similar scenario, for which they also appeal to the consecration and sense of belonging of peasants and workers, which together with the strategies of specialists, supervisors and managers will make it possible to reach the production lines.
About 600 producers are involved in this campaign, in which more than 580 tons of tobacco have been contracted, which must be produced in the 395 hectares available, of which 15 correspond to covered tobacco, destined for export production.
