New stage of preparation for defense in Holguín Military Region

The second semester of the year of preparation for defense began on Thursday, September 1 in the Holguín Military Region, a new period that will focus its objectives on continuing to raise the combat readiness and reach a higher step in the consolidation of the territory's military invulnerability.
The ceremony was presided over by the Division General Ricardo Rigel Tejeda, member of the Central Committee of the Party and Head of the Eastern Army, the members of the Provincial Defense Council, headed by its president Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, also member of the Central Committee, among other top officials.
In the new stage, marked by a complex international scenario similar to the previous period, it is necessary to improve the work in practice with intelligence, as well as correct planning and saving resources.
Due to the meritorious results, a group of combatants was decorated with the distinctions Distinguished Service of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and Outstanding in Production and Defense, while 13 companions received the distinction “Merit for Humanism, Sensitivity and Solidarity” in recognition of their extraordinary performance in missions with high social impact, such as the fight against COVID-19.
Colonel Eduardo Castillo Tasé, Chief of the General Staff of the Military Region of Holguín, said that these recognitions are an expression of the positive results achieved in the first stage, in which the link and check of the superior bodies contributed to adopt directions of most successful work, which constitutes a starting point and experience to develop the recently started semester, whose challenges also demand unity, initiatives and creativity.
